Our master cheesemaker Cathy Lang has been making cheese for over 18 years. Her fascination for cheesemaking started from a young age when she went on a school trip to the local Dairy Factory in Brightwater, South Island, and remembers standing around a vat full of cheddar curds while the cheesemaker explained how it was made. She then went on to study across the globe, before coming back to Taranaki. 2022 has been the highlight, winning the NZ Champion Cheesemaker of the year at the recent New Zealand Champions of Cheese Awards. ‘I enjoy the science of cheesemaking but it’s the craft that always brings me back – I love that each cheesemaker can develop their own style. These artisan cheeses are a special passion of mine, made by hand in small batches for New Zealand cheese lovers.’
